More surface area means less pressure exerted on that surface, and vice-versa as the pressure is distributed on a large area.

The Resultant force is defined as the total force acting on a body along with their directions. When the object is at rest or travelling with the same velocity, the resultant force has to be zero. Since all the forces are acting towards the same direction, the resultant force should be same for all the forces.

If we consider Taj Mahal, the industries located in and around Agra like rubber processing, automobile, chemicals and especially the Mathura oil refinery, have been responsible for producing pollutants like sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide. These gases react with the water vapour present in the atmosphere to form sulphuric acid and nitric acid. The acids drop down with rain, making the rain acidic. This is called acid rain. Acid rain corrodes the marble of the monument. The phenomenon is also called “Marble cancer”.
