The helpers in the Secret Annex were very cooperative and helpful to those living there. Since it was a highly secret place, they had to ensure that none got an idea of the life there. Mr Kugler helped to build a bookcase over the entrance which opened like a door. Mr. Kleiman brought books to Anne and encouraged her reading. In the same manner, the others also helped and found ways to help the people in the Annex.
The helpers of the eight members of the annex were Miep Gies, Mr Koophuis, Mr Kraler and Ellie Vosen.
Miep Gies was one of the two secretaries working in the building,she was the one who found Anne's diaries and tucked them away for safekeeping. She was the one of the main facilitators in the Frank family's life in hiding in the secret annex,becoming their link with the outside world and the bringer of supplies for the family to subsist on. Miep did this disregarding the fact that her own life could be in danger for assisting Jews at a time when they were being hunted for mass extermination.Miep always thought about the welfare of the girls and their entertainment,bringing them things that would keep them occupied because life could be extremely dull being locked up in an annex.Miep would also come with her husband to keep the families company and talk about pertinent issues or regale the girl.
Mr Kraler had been instrumental in engineering the plan of their heading and in return the occupants of the household would pit cherries and make jams and jellies for his business and their personal consumption.He was extremely concerned about their safety and a reassuring presence in the office who would ensure that no harm came to them.
Mr Koophuis who had taken over the companies administered by Anne's father. He used to work in the big front office along with Miep and Bep,his wife was aware of her husband assisting the Frank family but she was too scared to come and meet them. Mr Koophuis had been very generous towards the family. He was a thoughtful man who cared about the family, bringing books for the young adults and newspapers for them to peruse. Anne was very fond of him, calling him their 'merry sunshine' and being worried about him because he suffered from bouts of gastrointestinal haemorrhaging.For the better part of the diary,Mr Koophuis had to deal with his deteriorating health but that did not deter him from helping the family.
Ellie was kind, considerate and a helpful girl who worked selflessly and tirelessly for the members of the annex. She was thoughtful of the girls’ welfare, signing them up for correspondence courses in her name and supplying them with reading material. She was closer to their age so the girls would always have a good time when she stayed over with them.
Anne observes that had it not been for these people who constantly thought about their welfare and safety, in spite of their own pressing troubles, they would not have survived in the annex for long. They would not only take care of the provisions but also boost their morale and give them company.

Sati- It is one of the social evil that prevailed in India in 19th and 20th century.
When the husband dies the wife is supposed to burn herself on the funeral pyre of her husband.
Those women who did this willingly were considered Sati (Sacred).
Those who did not do it willingly were forced to burn themself.

The Calico Acts banned the import of most cotton textiles into, England, followed by the restriction of sale of most cotton textiles .
Calico Act was enacted in the year 1720. According to this act, the British government enacted a legislation banning the use of printed cotton textiles– chintz – in England. It made the Indian textiles popular in the world market. The English traders were the ones to benefit from this.The effects on the Indian textiles were two ways:
First: Indian textiles now had to compete with British textiles in the European and American markets.
Second: exporting textiles to England became increasingly difficult since very high duties were imposed on Indian textiles imported into Britain.

Balance forces are two forces acting in opposite directions on an object, and equal in size. Anytime there is a balanced force on an object, the object stays still or continues moving continues to move at the same speed and in the same direction. For example, when the pen, pencil, and paper are set the forces are equal. They both pull and push themselves. But when the force of gravity is added then it pulls it down i.e. it falls. Balanced force: Balanced forces are those two forces acting in opposite directions on an object, and they are equal in size.

Curved surface area of a cylinder is 2πrh.
Given curved surface area of a cylinder is 1320 cm2 .
2πrh = 1320 cm2 .--------(1)
Given volume of the cylinder is 2640 cm3 ,
Volume of the cylinder is πr2h.
πr2h = 2640 --------(2)
Divide (2) by (1) we get
πr2h / 2πrh = 2640 / 1320
r / 2 = 2
r = 4 cm.
Now 2πrh = 1320
2 x (22/7) x 4 x h = 1320
h = (1320 x 7) / (44 x 4)
h = 52.5 cm.
∴ height of the cylinder = 52.5 cm.

Seismic zones or Fault zone : The weak zones of earth’s crust (which are more prone to earthquakes) are called seismic zones’ or fault zones.
Major earthquakes occur in the well defined ‘seismic zones’ called earthquake belts. The seismic zones mark the edges of the huge mobile pieces of the earth’s crust called plates. . In India, the areas most threatened by earthquakes are Kashmir, Western and Central Himalayas, the whole of North-East, Rann of Kutch, Rajasthan and Indo-Gangetic Plane. Some areas of South India also fall in earthquake danger zone.

The Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to prevent atrocities against scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. ... Article 17 of Indian Constitution seeks to abolish 'untouchability' and to forbid all such practices.
The Act guarantees Adivasis not to be dispossessed from their traditional homelands. The land belonging to Adivasis cannot be sold to or bought by non-tribal people. In cases where this has happened, the Constitution guarantees the right of tribal people to re-possess their land.
