Pulses are a kind of leguminous plants. These plants occur in symbiotic relationship with Rhizobia which form root nodules. Atmospheric nitrogen fixation occurs in these root nodules which result in increasing the fertility of soil by adding nitrogen to the soil. So, such plants are grown on fields in between other plants to restore fertility of soil.

  • The Subsidiary Alliance system was used by Lord Wellesley, who was Governor-General of India from 1798-1805, to build an empire in India.
  • Under the system, the allying Indian state's ruler was compelled to accept the permanent stationing of a British force within his territory and to pay a subsidy for its maintenance.
  • Also, the Indian ruler had to agree to the posting of a British Resident in his court.
  • Under the Subsidiary Treaty, the Indian ruler could not employ any European in his service without the prior approval of the British. Nor could he negotiate with any other Indian ruler without consulting the Governor-General.
  • In return for all this, the British agreed to defend the ruler from his enemies and adopt a policy of non-interference in the internal matters of the allied state.
  • Subsidiary Alliance brought immense gains for the East India Company by extending the areas under British control and bringing relative peace in subsidies and territory.
  • During the seven-year rule of Wellesley alone, over 100 small and big states of India signed the Subsidiary Treaty.

The term minority is most commonly used to refer to communities that are numerically small in relation to the rest of the population. However, it is a concept that goes well beyond numbers. It encompasses issues of power, access to resources and has social and cultural dimensions. The Indian Constitution recognised that the culture of the majority influences the way in which society and government might express themselves. In such cases, size can be a disadvantage and lead to the marginalisation of the relatively smaller communities. Thus, safeguards are needed to protect minority communities against the possibility of being culturally dominated by the majority. They also protect them against any discrimination and disadvantage that they may face. Given certain conditions, communities that are small in number relative to the rest of society may feel insecure about their lives, assets and well-being. This sense of insecurity may get accentuated if the relations between the minority and majority communities are fraught. The Constitution provides these safeguards because it is committed to protecting India’s cultural diversity and promoting equality as well as justice. Every citizen of India can approach the courts if they believe that their Fundamental Rights have been violated.

Mars is red because it contains a large amount of iron in its crust. On Mars, the reverse effect takes place. The dust in the atmosphere scatters the red particles of light, makes the sky also appear red.

The process of burning of a substance in the presence of air and oxygen with the liberation of heat & light is called combustion. The following conditions are necessary for combustion to take place. PRESENCE OF A COMBUSTIBLE SUBSTANCE:Combustion is only possible if the substance is combustible. PRESENCE OF A SUPPORTER OF COMBUSTION:The adequate supply of a supporter of combustion(e.g.,oxygen) is essential for combustion. ATTAINMENT OF IGNITION TEMPERATURE:A substance starts to burn only after it has attained a certain minimum temperature.The temperature at which a particular substance burns in the presence of air is called its ignition temperature. A substance can not catch fire if its temperature is low than its ignition temperature.

Yogita Ingle 6 years, 10 months ago

The chemical process in which a substance reacts with oxygen to give off heat is called combustion.
Conditions necessary for Combustion
There are three conditions which are necessary for combustion to take place.
1.Presence of a combustible substance. That is, a substance which can burn.
2.Presence of a supporter of combustion like presence of oxygen in air.
3.Heating the combustible substance to its ignition temperature.

If any of these conditions is not met, combustion does not take place.

The perimeter of a rectangle = 13 cm
width = 23/4
The perimeter of a rectangle = 2 (length + breadth)
13 = 2(Length + 23/4)
Length + 23/4 = 13/2
Length =  {tex}\frac{13}2-\frac{23}4\;=\;\frac{26}4-\;\frac{23}4=\;\frac{26\;-\;23}4=\;\frac34{/tex}
