The destructive energy of an earthquake is measured on Richter scale. An earthquake which measures 3 on this scale would be recorded by a seismograph. An earthquake of this intensity is not likely to cause any damage.

As with most bird species, roosters and hens don't have external genitalia. Instead both partners procreate using an external orifice called a cloaca. When the cloacae are touched together, sperm is transferred into the female reproductive tract. The reproductive system of a female chicken, or hen, like the reproductive systems of female mammals, contains two ovaries and two oviducts. However, the right ovary and oviduct do not fully develop and do not function. The left ovary and oviduct produce eggs. The ova, produced in the ovary, develop into egg yolks.

Textile industry had recently developed in England in the mid eighteenth century. So, it was troublesome for the English makers to contend with Indian Textiles. This opposition with Indian materials prompted a scan for mechanical advancement in England. In 1764, the Spinning Jenny was created by John Kaye which expanded the profitability of the traditional spindles. Then came the steam engine which was invented by Richard Arkwright in 1786. These two creations changed cotton material weaving in England. Material could now be woven in large quantities and cheap as well.

The outer ear is called pinna. It collects the sound from the surroundings. The collected sound passes through the auditory canal, there is a thin membrane called eardrum. When a compression of the medium reaches the eardrum, the pressure on the outside of the membrane increases and forces the eardrum inward. Similarly, the eardrum moves outward where a rarefaction reaches it. In this way eardrum vibrates.
The vidrations are amplified several times by three bones in middle ear. The middle ear transmits the amplified pressure variations receievd from the sound wave to the inner ear, the pressure variations are turned into electrical signals by the cochlea.
These electrical signals are sent to the brain via the auditory nerve and the brain interprets them as sound.

The sequence in which nitrogen in the atmosphere is passed into the soil and life forms, and then released back into the atmosphere, is called the nitrogen cycle.
a) Nitrogen is introduced to the soil by fertilizers or animal and plant residues. Bacteria in the soil convert the nitrogen to ammonium and nitrate, which is taken up by the plants by a process of nitrogen fixation.
b) Ammonification: The process of the production of ammonia from organic compounds is called ammonification. Ammonification is the process — carried out by a variety of microorganisms — that breaks down proteins, amino acids, and other nitrogen-containing compounds in dead and waste organic matter to form ammonia.
c) Nitrification: It is the process by which ammonia is converted to nitrites (NO2-) and then to nitrates (NO3-). This process naturally occurs in the environment, where it is carried out by specialized bacteria.
d) Denitrification: It is the biological conversion of nitrate to nitrogen gas, nitric oxide or nitrous oxide. These compounds are gaseous compounds and are not readily available for microbial growth; therefore they are typically released to the atmosphere. Nitrogen gas makes up over 78% of atmospheric gases, thus the release of N2 to the atmosphere is benign.

He used to be a member of the Congress. But when he saw seating arrangements on caste affiliations during one of the feasts organized by the Congress, he left it in disgust. While nothing is mentioned in this chapter on this issue, we can make some assumptions. After the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa, issues about untouchables became focus of debate by the nationalist leaders. Hence, it can be said that movements by Phule and Periyar must have helped in shaping the opinion of nationalist leaders.
