Retting is a process employing the action of micro-organisms and moisture on plants to dissolve or rot away much of the cellular tissues and pectins surrounding bast-fibre bundles, and so facilitating separation of the fibre from the stem.
When the jute plant is in the flowering stage, it is harvested. After harvesting, it is kept submerged in water for a few days. During this period, the stem of the plant rots and the fibres (present in the stem) remain. The process by which fibres are obtained from the stem of the plant is known as retting.

These are light emitting diodes that contain two wires called LED. We use a LED in place of electric bulb. LED glows even when a small electric current flows through it. There are two wires (called leads) attached to LED. One lead is slightly longer than the other one. Remember that while connecting a circuit the longer lead of LED is always connected to the positive terminal of the battery and the shorter lead is connected to the negative terminal of battery.
