Sound is caused by the simple but rapid mechanical vibrations of various elastic bodies. These when moved or struck so as to vibrate, communicate the same kind of vibrations to the auditory nerve of the ear, and are then appreciated by the mind.

When we look at any object the wavelengths of reflected light determine the colour which we see. We see objects as a specific color because of the color effect. For example when a blue object is hit with light rays the object reflects only blue light and absorbs all other light.
