The process of depositing a thin layer of a desired metal over a metal object with the help of electric current is called electroplating.
Electroplating is done for
1) Protection from corrosion
2) Testing for decorative purpose
For example :Bathroom taps made of iron or steel are electroplated with chromium metal to prevent their corrosion or rusting. It gives a shining appearance to the bathroom taps due to which they look more attractive. The metal objects are usually electroplated with chromium, nickel, silver ,gold or copper metals.

Nitrogen Cycle

Nitrogen cycle is all about the movement of nitrogen between various elements on Earth (like air, soil, living organisms etc.) The amount of nitrogen in the atmosphere remains constant.

  • Atmosphere has approx. 78% nitrogen.
  • Atmospheric Nitrogen is fixed into the soil
    • N2 fixing microbes convert atm. N2 into nitrogen compounds like NH3
  • Plants utilize nitrogen from soil through their roots
  • Animals utilize nitrogen, feeding on plants
  • When Plants & animals die, Nitrogenous wastes are returned to soil
    • Decomposers convert some part to nitrogen compounds to be used by plants
    • Denitrifying bacteria convert into atm. N2

Chickens raised for eggs are known as layers, while chickens raised for meat are called broilers. In the United States, the national organization overseeing poultry production is the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). A broiler is any chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) that is bred and raised specifically for meat production. An egg laying poultry is called egger or layer whereas broilers are reared for obtaining meat. So a layer should be able to produce more number of large sized eggs, without growing too much. On the other hand, a broiler should yield more meat and hence should be able to grow well.

Vandana Sharma 7 years ago

IN SIMPLE WORDS connecting our house connections with ground...or surface of Earth is called EARTHING. it helps to release the extra electricity to earth........

Yogita Ingle 7 years ago

Earthing is the process of connecting the exposed metal parts of an electrical circuit to the ground
Usually an electric appliance such as a heater, an iron box, etc. are fitted with all the three wires namely live, neutral and earth. The earth wire is connected to the metallic body of the appliance. This is done to avoid accidental shock. Suppose due to some defect, the insulation of the live wire inside an electric iron is burnt then the live wire may touch the metallic body of the iron.
