When certain objects are rubbed against another object, electrons may get transferred from one object to another. If an object loses some electron, it is left with surplus number of protons. Thus, this object becomes positively charged. If an object gains electrons, it now has surplus number of electrons. Thus, this object becomes negatively charged.

Some of the vision defects are as follows:

Myopia: A person suffering from myopia finds it difficult to see a distant object. This disease is also called short sightedness or near sightedness. Spectacles with suitable lenses can improve the vision in a myopic person.

Hypermetropia: A person suffering from hypermetropia finds it difficult to see a nearby object. This disease is also called long sightedness. Spectacles with suitable lenses can improve the vision in a hypermetropic person.

Cataract: The cornea becomes cloudy in a cataract patient and thus the person cannot see clearly. Cataract is treated by surgery. In cataract surgery, the cornea is cleaned and an artificial lens is transplanted in the eye.

About 2500 years ago, a Greek scientist called Thales observed that when a material known as amber was rubbed with a silk cloth, it started attracting tiny feathers. Thales said that amber acquires electric charge on rubbing with silk. In 1752 Benjamin Franklin, an American scientist, showed that lightning and the spark from our clothes are essentially the same phenomena.

A clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light.  When we look towards the sun at sunset, we see red and orange colours because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight.

As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

As you look closer to the horizon, the sky appears much paler in color. To reach you, the scattered blue light must pass through more air. Some of it gets scattered away again in other directions. Less blue light reaches your eyes. The color of the sky near the horizon appears paler or white.

The splitting up of light into its constituent colours while passing from one medium to the other is called dispersion.

Violet color has the least wavelength and red color has the maximum wavelength. So, violet colored light deviates the most and the red colored light deviates the least among the seven component colors of the white light.

The SI unit of pressure is Pascal (represented as Pa) which is equal to one newton per square metre (N/m-2 or kg m-1s-2). Interestingly, this name was given in 1971. Before that pressure in SI was measured in newtons per square metre.

Pressure is articulated as force per unit area articulated as

P = F/A

Where,
