1 year consists of 365 days. 1 day has 24 hours, each hour has 60 minutes and each minute has 60 seconds.

This gives the number of seconds in an hour as 60*60 = 3600 and the number of seconds in a day as 24*3600 = 86400

The number of seconds in 365 days is 86400*365 = 31536000 seconds.

There are 31536000 seconds in a year
