50+30+x= 100
x = 20
percentage of students who like other subjects is 20%
Students who like math= 50/100×6000
= 3000
students who like science= 30/100×6000
= 1800
students who like other subjects= 20/100×6000
= 1200

3x = 2x + 18
3x – 2x = 18 ... [Transposing 2x to L.H.S]
{tex}\therefore{/tex} x = 18 this is the required solution.
Verification,
L.H.S. = 3x = 3 {tex}\times{/tex} 18 = 54
R.H.S. = 2x + 18 = 2 {tex}\times{/tex} 18 + 18 = 36 + 18 = 54
Therefore, L.H.S = R.H.S
