The Vedic period in India was dominated the Aryans who laid down several rules and regulations that governed socio economic lives of the people. These rules, as prescribed by the Brahmanas, were accepted by the rulers of large kingdoms as well as common people who were practicing cultivation. Besides this, there were innumerable groups of people who lived in deep forests and practiced hunting and fishing. They did not follow the social rules and rituals prescribed by the Brahmanas. Since they did not live a settled life, rejected both the caste system and orthodox Hinduism and lived in deep forests, they were cut off from non-tribal societies.

The two ways in which advertising affects issues of equality in a democracy:
(a)Advertising tends to promote a certain lack of respect for the poor. They are not the faces we most often see in advertisements and so we tend to dismiss their lives as worthless, m a democracy in which all people are equal and should be able to lead a life of dignity, advertising ignores the poor.
(b)Advertising only focuses on the lives of the rich and famous. Thus, it helps us forget about issues of poverty, discrimination and dignity, all of which are central to the functioning of equality in a democracy.
