Under Murshid Quli Khan, Bengal broke away from Mughal control. He was appointed as the naib, deputy to the governor of Bengal. Though he was never a subadar, he very quickly seized all the power that went with that office. He also commanded the revenue administration of the state, like the rulers of Awadh and Hyderabad.

He managed to reduce the Mughal influence by

  • Transferring all Mughal jagirdars to Orissa.
  • Ordering a major reassessment of the revenues of Bengal- Revenue was collected from zamindars, in cash with great strictness. This forced the zamindars to borrow money from bankers and moneylenders. Those who were not able to pay were force to sell their lands to bigger zamindars

The ever increasing network of roads, railways, airways and waterways, coupled with the progress in transportation and communication, has made world a small place. Distantness and remoteness are fast becoming the words of a bygone era. In today’s world, the distances and the time required to travel the same has shrunk manifold. Communication technologies like cellular phones, email, web cameras, SMS and watsapp have made trans-continental communication possible for individuals. Internet has become a major means of communication as well as dissemination of information. With the help of emails, people across the globe can now run businesses and participate in various trading activities. This interconnectivity of people, services and institutions spread across the world has brought the world closer, effectively turning it into a ‘global village’.  Hence, one can say that ‘today’s world is shrinking’.

Nizam-ul-Mulk Asaf Jah, the founder of Hyderabad state, was one of the most powerful members at the court of the Mughal Emperor, Farrukh Siyar. To strengthen his position, Asaf Jah:

  • brought skilled soldiers and administrators from northern India who welcomed the new opportunities in the south.
  • appointed mansabdars and granted jagirs.
  • ruled quite independently without seeking any direction from Delhi or facing any interference. The Mughal emperor merely confirmed the decisions already taken by the Nizam.
  • gathered power by taking advantage of the turmoil in the Deccan and the competition amongst the court nobility.

Goods are produced in fartories or on farms but we don't buy directly from the factory. The wholesalers trader first buys goods in large quantities. These will then be sold to other traders. The trader who finally sells thisto the consumer, is the retailer. 3. It is not necessary that one has to go to the market and purchase goods. We can place order for a variety of things through the phone. In clinics, we have noticed sales representatives waiting for doctors. Such person are also engaged in the selling of goods . Thus buying and selling takes in differ3ways , not necessarily through shops in thr market
