Shivaji Maharaj collected taxes called chauth and sardeshmukhi from the rulers he subjugated. Chauth, which means one-fourth of the revenue was paid to buy protection from Maratha attacks. Sardeshmukhi, which means one-tenth of the revenue was a tribute which Shivaji Maharaj demanded as the self-proclaimed chief headman of the region he controlled.

Secularism refers to the separation of religion from the state. It means that the state should not discriminate among its citizens on the basis of religion. It should neither encourage nor discourage the followers of any religion.

- Amir Khusrau was a poet and Sufi musician lived in the 14th century. He was a follower of Nizammudin Auliya.
- He composed many poetries in Hindavi (Hindustani) and Persian languages. He was known as the ‘father of Qawwali’.
- Khusrau designed the musical instruments sitar and tabla. He played an important role in presenting Ghazal form of songs into India.

1 Meat packin & processing is the cheif industry of Argentina.This industry is one of the larsest meat exporters in the world.
2 Cattle rearing is done on commercial scales.
3 The animals are kept in large farms called esctancia.
4 The bones of animals are used for making fertilizers and the hides and skins of animals were used as by-products.

2 But, the most important industry in veld is sheep rearing.
3 Mining is another important occupation.

1. Natural Vegetation: The Ganga Brahmaputra basin has a deciduous type of vegetation in the plains which shed their leaves in summer.Sal, Pepal, Banyan are the trees mostly grown here.In the Brahmaputra basin there are thick bamboo groves.The river basin in the delta region has mangrove forests.
Amazon River Basin has an evergreen type of vegetation.The forests are too thick and dense.It always remains dark and damp due to excessive rainfall and lack of sunlight.The leaves always remain green and never shed.
2.Wild life:There are a variety of animals found in the Ganga- Brahmaputra basin.The eastern parts have rhinos, the Bengal tiger, crocodiles etc.he western parts have monkeys, elephants etc.
The Amazon basin is also covered with a rich wild life.It includes monkeys, snakes, pumas, jaguar, tapirs, giant anteaters and some rare species.
3.Minerals: The minerals found in the Ganga- Brahmaputra basin include limestone, quartz, sandstones etc.
Amazon basin is considered to have rich mineral deposits like kaolin, coal, petroleum, iron ore etc.
