Craftsmen were very famous for their work in the ancient times. For example, the craft persons of Bidar made exquisite bronze, copper, silver and gold images. People who visited the temples brought these pieces of great craftsmanship. Later, the community of crafts persons became rich and played an important role in building and maintenance of temples. They gave grants for the construction of temples, building of inns for the pilgrims to stay and built reservoirs. Many rich weaving communities gave huge donations to the temples. The money was used by the temple authorities in building and maintaing the temples.

Conduction is the transfer of heat between substances that are in direct contact with each other. The better the conductor, the more rapidly heat will be transferred. Metal is a good conduction of heat. Conduction occurs when a substance is heated, particles will gain more energy, and vibrate more. These molecules then bump into nearby particles and transfer some of their energy to them. This then continues and passes the energy from the hot end down to the colder end of the substance.

Maratha empire emerged as a strong kingdom in the Western Deccan and expanded between 1720 and 1761.
It slowly chipped away at the authority of the Mughal Empire. By the 1720s Malwa and Gujarat were seized from the Mughals. The Maratha king was recognized as the overlord of the entire Deccan peninsula by the 1730s. He had the right to levy chauth and sardeshmukhi in the entire region. After the raid in Delhi by the Marathas in 1737, the frontiers of the Maratha domination expanded fast:
- Into Rajasthan and Punjab in the north
- Into Bengal and Orissa in the east
- Into Karnataka and the Tamil and Telugu states in the south
Though these were not formally included in the Maratha empire, they were made to pay tribute as a way of accepting Maratha sovereignty.
