Air is trapped in the space between two thin blankets. Since air is an insulator of heat, it prevents the escape of body heat. That is why two thin blankets are usually warmer than one thick blanket.

Jute is very strong . It also possible that there will be a big piece of ice it creates a cold area around it. So, the warm air is enabled to go there

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 5 months ago

Gunny bags are made up of jute .so, the fibre of the jutes prevent heat transfer from coming inside from out side. This prevent ice to be melt. Because they are made of jute. Hence the air in the pores of the fibre prevents any heat transfer between the ice and the surroundings.

Handles of kitchen utensils are made of bakelite because bakelite is bad conductor of heat, which doesn't let the heat pass through it.So while cooking whenever we will hold the hot utensil, it will not burn our hand.

Caterpillars are cold blooded organisms. If we touch them with bare hands, the heat transferred to their body can be fatal for them. Also, caterpillars have thick stingy hair , which causes irritation to the are in contact, in some cases these hairs can be poisonous too. Sometimes, the body fluid of some caterpillars too is poisonous .

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 5 months ago

Caterpillars are larval forms of insects such as butterfly. Caterpillars shed their skin 3-5 times while they grow and this process is called molting.  Their skin never grows as skin of human does, so while growing they have to crawl out of their skin when their skin becomes too tight. After first molting they bring new skin cover and in the mean time some caterpillars also eat their shed old skin. After  they grow more, then again shed their skin.

In case of humans, shedding of whole skin does not occur as when human body grows, skin cells also grow. Shedding of only dead skin cells occur in case of human beings.

Observation: You will find that to one hand ,the water feels hot and to the other it feels cold. Conclusion: This is because the hand that was in ice cold water has become cold, and when it was placed in water at room temperature, it felt that the water is warm, relative to earlier experience of ice cold water. Similarly the hand that was first in hot water will feel the water at room temperature to be relatively cold. So, we see that the terms hot and cold are only relative terms. There must always be a reference body with respect to which we can say a given body is hot or cold. Therefore, it is important that we use an instrument, rather than our own judgement, to measure temperature. ?

The pH value can be measured using electrochemical measuringsystems, litmus paper, or indicators and colorimeters. The easiest way to take a pH measurement is to use litmus paper or a colorimeter. The advantage of this type of pH measurement is that the pH range is well known and they are easy to apply.

Above a fire, you get quite a lot of hot air. Hot air is less dense than cool air, so it rises. Because there is quite a lot of hot air, it makes quite a big wind current as it rises, and that drags the smoke particles upward with the air, in much the same way as wind can raise dust

Acid turns blue litmus to red

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 5 months ago

Acids change the color of blue litmus paper to red.

The word “acid” is derived from the Latin word “acidus” which means tart or sour. Acids are molecules or other species that can donate a proton or accept an electron pair in reactions. All acids change the color of blue litmus paper to red. Acids lose their acidity when combined with alkalis. Generally, the pH value of acids ranges from zero to six.

Because metal is good conducted of heat and we use of metal

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 5 months ago

We know that metals are good thermal conductors. This means that they are good conductors of heat. Tumblers used to sip hot tea are not made up of metals. If they would have been made up of heat, they would become very hot when tea would have been poured into it. So, it would have been difficult to even touch it. Therefore, these tumblers are not made up of metals. Instead they are made up of plastic, glass or other material which is a bad there conductor.
