Saprotrophs

  • Some microorganisms like fungi use another mode of nutrition known as saprotrophic mode of nutrition.
  • The organisms undergoing this mode of nutrition are known as Saprotrophs.
  • These fungal spores are present in air and grow as dark patches on the food items or other items like pickles, leather and clothes during hot, humid or rainy season.
  • They sit on dead and decaying matter where they germinate and grow.
  • They secrete a digestive juice that convert them to solution and absorbs the nutrients.

fuse wire has a low melting point. Whenever the current flowing through an electric circuit exceeds the safety limit, the fuse wire heats up and melts down, resulting in a break in the path of current flow. This stops the flow of current in the circuit.

Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction in which only one parent is involved. There are basically 5 types of asexual reproduction. These are binary fission, budding, vegetative reproduction, fragmentation and by spores. During fission, the cellular contents are replicated internally and then are divided into two daughter cells. This is seen in bacteria. Plants reproduce asexually by vegetative propagation. In this, part of plant such as bulb, tuber, rhizome develops into a new plant. Budding is seen in yeast. In this, new organism develops from a bud at a particular site. In fragmentation, an organism physically splits and develops into new organisms from each segment. It is seen in segmented worms. Spores are produced by bacteria, fungi, algae, plants. This spore later develops into new organism.

About 70 percent of your body's iron is found in the red blood cells of your blood called hemoglobin and in muscle cells called myoglobin. Hemoglobin is essential for transferring oxygen in your blood from the lungs to the tissues. Myoglobin, in muscle cells, accepts, stores, transports and releases oxygen

A house having windows but no ventilators should not be bought. This is because warm air being lighter than cold air, rises up. This warm air can go out of the house mostly through ventilators. If there are no ventilators, then the warm air cannot go out easily.

The pH scale ranges from 1 to 14, with 7 considered “neutral.” The lower numbers are acidic, while the upper levels are considered alkaline, or nonacidic. You might be surprised to learn that a healthy skin pH is more on the acidic side. With more acidity, your skin can combat harmful microbes and damaging free radicals that might increase the aging process.

The force of attraction between any two bodies is directly proportional to the product of their masses and is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.

As we learned in this article that gravity is the force that pulls two bodies together, below are the examples of gravity:

  • The force acting between the Sun and the Earth.
  • The force that is responsible for the revolution to the Moon around the Earth.
  • The tides that are caused in the ocean is due to the force from the Moon.

The plant make their food by the process of photosynthesis

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 3 months ago

The process by which plants make food is named as photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process in which green plants use sunlight to make their own food. Photosynthesis requires sunlight, chlorophyll, water, and carbon dioxide gas. Chlorophyll is a substance in all green plants, especially in the leaves. Plants take in water from the soil and carbon dioxide from the air.  Plants can perform photosynthesis only through leaves and not by other parts of the plant. Leaves have a special green pigment called chlorophyll which helps in the absorption of energy from the sun. The chloroplast present in the cells play a vital role in this process. The various steps involved in the process of photosynthesis are given below:

  • Absorption of light energy through the sun by chlorophyll present in leaves.
  • Conversion of light energy chemical energy. In this process, the water molecule splits into its respective components hydrogen and oxygen.
  • Carbon dioxide is reduced into carbohydrates like glucose by light energy utilizing the hydrogen and oxygen produced in the above step.

The reaction involved in photosynthesis is:

6CO2+6H20→C6H12O6+6O2

Compounds have fixed properties. For example, a particular compound will have fixed temperatures at which it melts and boils. 5. A compound can have properties different from its constituents, as a new substance is formed when the constituents are chemically combined. Mixtures 1. Mixtures are impure substances. 2. They are made up of two or more substances mixed physically. 3. The constituents of a mixture are present in varying ratios. 4. Mixtures do not have fixed properties. Their properties depend on the nature of their components and the ratios in which they are combined. 5. In mixtures, no new substance is formed. Saprophytic Nutrition: In saprophytic nutrition, the digestion of food takes place before ingestion of food. This type of nutrition is usually seen in fungi and some other microorganisms. The organism secretes digestive enzymes on the food and then ingests the simple substances.
