According to a Chinese legend, the empress "Si-lung-Chi" found white worms eating up mulberry leaves and spinning shiny cocoons around themselves. A cocoon accidentally dropped into her cup of tea and a tangle of delicate threads separated from the cocoon. Thus, the silk industry was born in China. This was kept secret for hundreds of years. later this was introduced in other countries by traders and travelers much later. The route they travelled was called the silk route.

| Mercury level does not fall on its own, as there is a kink near the bulb to prevent the fall of mercury level. | Mercury level falls on its own as no kink is present. |
| Temperature can be read after removing the thermometer from armpit or mouth. | Temperature is read while keeping the thermometer in the source of temperature, e.g. a liquid or any other thing. |
| To lower the mercury level jerks are given. | No need to give jerk to lower the mercury level. |
| It is used for taking the body temperature. | It is used to take temperature in laboratory. |

Acid-base indicators are special substances which are used to detect the acidity or basicity of other substances. The change in colour of the indicators help us in understanding which substance is acidic and which one is basic. Example: Litmus paper is a natural acid-base indicator.

Pisces :
● This class compromises of fishes which are aquatic, free living and develop system level of organisation.
● They are bilaterally symmetrical and contain three germ layers - endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm ( Triploblastic ).
● They are coelomate and locomotion occurs through streamlined body and forelimbs modified into fins.
● Respiration occurs through gills. Heart is 2 chambered containing 1 auricle and 1 ventricle.
● Exoskeleton is in form of rough scales. While inmer body is made up of cartilage and bones.
● They are cold - blooded and can't control their body temperature. The reproduction occurs sexually. Sexes are seperate and they lay eggs.
Eg = Catla ( Catla ), Electric Ray ( Torpede ), dog fish ( Scolidon ), Rohu ( Labeo ), Flying fish ( Exocoetus ).
Reptilia :
● This class compromises of organism which are aquaticnor terristial, free living and develop system level of organisation.
● They are bilaterally symmetrical and contain three germ layers - endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm ( Triploblastic ).
● They are coelomate and locomotion occurs through pentadactyle. The heart is three chambered with 2 auricle and 1 ventricle.
● The exoskeleton us made up of scales where as endoskeleton of bones.
● Respiration takes place due to presence of lunges.
● They are cold blooded organism.
● They reproduce sexually where their eggs contain extra embryonic membranes.
Eg. =Magur ( Crocoldilus ), wall lizard ( Hemidactylus ), Trotoise ( Testudo ) and Garden lizard ( Chameleon ).

PHYSICAL CHANGE: When the matter or substance changes in its physical properties we can say it is undergoing physical change. 1. During the physical change neither the chemical composition nor chemical nature of the substance changes.
Plain sheet of paper
For example:Tearing a paper is a physical change because when the paper is torn only the appearance of paper is changed.
2.Physical changes are reversible.

During the process of exhalation the ribs move Downwards
During exhalation, the diaphragm moves up and ribs move downwards and inwards, decreasing the space in the chest cavity, this increases the air pressure inside the lungs and forces the air out of the lungs.

A green substance in plants called chlorophyll traps the energy from the Sun needed to make food. Chlorophyll is mostly found in the leaves of a plant. The leaf can be thought of as a food factory. The leaf is the part of the plant that produces food for the plant by the process of photosynthesis. The leaf has chlorophyll which gives the green color to the leaf. Chlorophyll makes food for the plant using carbon dioxide, water, nutrients, and sunlight.

Hans Christian Oersted (1777 – 1851) was the first to show that electric current also produces magnetic effect. He kept a magnetic compass near a current carrying conductor. It was observed that the magnetic compass shows deflection, when the current passes through the conductor.

There are three layers of earth
The Inner Core
It is the centre and the hottest layer of the Earth. The inner core is solid and made up of iron and nickel with temperature up to 5,500oC. Due to its immense heat energy, the inner core is more like the engine room of the Earth.
The Outer Core
The outer core of the Earth is similar to a very hot ball of metals, whose temperature is around 4000 oF to 90000F. It is so hot that the metals inside are all in the liquid state. The outer core is located around 1800 miles under the crust and approximately 1400 miles thick. It is composed of metals such as iron and nickel. The outer core surrounds the inner core.
The inner core has pressures and temperatures so high that the metals are squeezed together and not able to move like a liquid, but are forced to vibrate instead of solid.
Mantle
Mantle is the widest section of the Earth. Its thickness is approximately 2,900 km. The mantle is mainly made up of semi-molten rock known as magma. The rock is hard in the upper part of the mantle, but lower down the rock is softer and begins to melt.

A physical change is a change to a sample of matter in which some properties of the material change, but the identity of the matter does not. In a reversible physical change, the original form of the matter can be restored. In an irreversible physical change, the original form cannot be restored. A reversible change is the one in which a substance that is undergoing the change can be recovered in its original form while physical changes usually involve changes in these properties of a substance.

Acids
The term acid is derived from a Latin word ‘acidus’ or ‘acere’, which means sour. The most common characteristic is their sour taste. An acid is a substance that renders ionizable hydronium ion (H3O+) in its aqueous solution. It turns blue litmus paper red.
Bases
The most common characteristic of bases is their bitter taste and soapy feel. A base is a substance that renders hydroxyl ion(OH–) in their aqueous solution. Bases turn the colour of red litmus paper to blue.
Salts
Salt is an ionic compound that results from the neutralization reaction of acids and bases. Salts are constituted of positively charged ions, known as cations and negatively charged ions, known as anions, which can either be organic or inorganic in nature. These ions are present in a relative amount, thus rendering the nature of the salt neutral.

An acid is a chemical substance that has a sour taste.
-
Many food items such as lemons, curd, vinegar and orange taste sour because of the presence of acid in them.
-
Acidic Substances are the substances that contain acid in them.
-
Natural Acids are the acids that occur in nature, for example, acids found in fruits are natural acids.
Bases-
A base is a chemical substance that has a bitter taste and a soapy texture.

Most noteworthy, with time the bones merge into each other and that’s why at birth the infants have around 270 bones and when he grew up (At age 21) the number of bones decreases to 206 bones.
On average there are 206 bones in the human body.
Gaurav Seth 5 years, 2 months ago
There are a total of 206 bones in the adult human body. They range in size from the tiniest found in the middle ear, to the largest that forms our thigh. The human body has an amazing array of different bones, many of which you can find on yourself or on a skeleton.

Physical changes
Those changes in which no new substances are formed, are called physical changes. The changes in state, size, shape and colour of a substance are physical changes. The properties such as state, size, shape and colour of a substance are called its physical properties.
Those changes in which a substance undergoes a change in its physical properties are called physical changes.
The important characteristics of a physical change are as follows:
(1) No new substance is formed in a physical change.
(2) A physical change is a temporary change. A physical change can be easily reversed.
(3) Very little energy is either absorbed or evolved in a physical change.
(4) A temporary change in colour may take place in a physical change.
Examples of physical changes :
Melting of ice (to form water)
Freezing of water (to form ice)
Boiling of water (to form steam
Condensation of steam (to form water
Evaporation of water to form water vapour
Condensation of water vapour (to form liquid water)

Autotrophs are organisms that can produce their own food, using materials from inorganic sources. The word “autotroph” comes from the root words “auto” for “self” and “troph” for “food.” An autotroph is an organism that feeds itself, without the assistance of any other organisms
