Car's speed = 40 km/h
Time = 15 mins. = 0.25 hrs.
Distance = Speed × Time = (40 × 0.25) km = 10 km.
Car's speed = 60 km/h.
Time = 15 mins. = 0.25 hrs.
Distance = Speed × Time = (60 × 0.25) km = 15 km.
So, Total distance travelled = (10+15) km = 25 km

We should conserve forests because they are essential for us in the following terms:
- Forest provide us with oxygen, they cause rainfall.
- Forest prevents soil erosion.
- Plants are dependent on animals and birds for their pollination and seed dispersal.
- Forests provide us with various medicines.
- Various forest products are used as raw materials in industries.
Wildlife is the part and parcel of the ecosystem. They play a major role in maintaining the ecological balance. Some animals also help in cleaning the environment. We have to conserve the wildlife due to following reasons
- They are the consistent element of the nature
- Ecological balance is maintained by these wildlife community
- Some species are extinct and some are in the urge of extinction
- Endangered species must be protected
- Wildlife have the equal rights to stay on this planet

The needle of a compass is a tiny magnet, which points in the north-south direction. When a magnet is brought close to it, the needle gets deflected. When an electric current passes through a wire, it behaves like a magnet. This magnetic effect of the electric current makes the compass needle deflect from the north-south direction.

If you consider it a color, black absorbs the most heat. A black object absorbs all wavelengths of light and reflects none. Objects that are white, on the other hand, reflect all wavelengths of light and therefore absorb the least heat.

No, the electrician should not be allowed to replace the fuse in the house with a piece of wire. This is because every wire cannot be used as a fused filament. A fused filament must have a low melting point such that it could melt and break in response to a large amount of current. Most of the wires have high melting points and hence a wire cannot be used to replace the fuse.

When we conserve forests, we conserve soil by preventing soil erosion. They also maintain the fertility of soil. Similarly, trees in the forest provide shelter and safety to animals. They also provide food to wildlife.

When heat energy is supplied to ice it changes into water and then to vapor. If we cool the steam it gets converted into water and further cooling of water changes into ice.
Here the heat energy is used up in changing the state of matter. the heat is used to increase the kinetic energy of the particles of ice to such an extent that they break away from the rigid lattice structure of the solid form, ice, and move around freely to form the liquid form, water. So, until all the ice has melted, the heat absorbed does not raise the temperature of the ice-water mixture. In the same way the temperature does not change while a liquid is boiling. This heat, which does not raise the temperature of the body, is called Latent Heat.

A greater variety of plants and animals in the forests helps it to regenerate and grow. Greater variety of plants means more food and habitat for the herbivores. An increase in herbivores means more food for carnivores. Decomposers help to maintain the supply of nutrients to the soil and to the growing plants. This wide variety makes forest a dynamic living entity.

The micro-organisms that decompose/ convert the dead remains of plants and animals to humus are called decomposers. The two common examples of decomposers are bacteria and fungi. They play an important role in clearing the debris of dead remains of plants and animals and convert them into humus which enriches the nutrients of the soil.

Recharging of groundwater takes place by the rainwater and water present in the water source like river and ponds. The water tends to seep through the soil and fill the empty spaces and cracks below the ground. That’s how groundwater gets recharged.
