Monsoon is traditionally defined as a seasonal reversing wind accompanied by corresponding changes in precipitation, but is now used to describe seasonal changes in atmospheric circulation and precipitation associated with the asymmetric heating of land and sea. Usually, the term monsoon is used to refer to the rainy phase of a seasonally changing pattern, although technically there is also a dry phase.

The various steps involved in the process of nutrition are:
Ingestion: Amoeba ingests food with the help of its finger-like extensions, called pseudopodia. When a food particle approaches Amoeba, it forms pseudopodia around it and forms a food vacuole inside the Amoeba.
Digestion: Various enzymes from the cytoplasm enter into the food vacuole and break them down into simple soluble molecules.
Absorption: The simple soluble food is absorbed by cytoplasm of Amoeba from food vacuoles through the process of diffusion.
Assimilation: Amoeba cell obtains energy from the absorbed food through respiration. This energy is utilised by Amoeba for its growth and repair of the body.
Egestion: When a considerable amount of undigested food gets collected inside Amoeba, its cell membrane ruptures and throws out the undigested food.

During the digestion of food, in amoeba digestive juices are secreted into the food vacuole. They act on the food and break it down to simpler substances. In human beings, the inner walls of stomach and the small intestine also secrete the digestive juices. The digestive juices convert complex substances of food to simpler ones.

Many people have a mysterious cough after eating. It might happen after every meal or only occasionally. There are several possible causes of this, including acid reflux, asthma, food allergies, and dysphagia, which refers to difficulty swallowing. The trachea and upper airway have irritant receptors which sense the particles and activate the cough. The chest and throat muscles contract in sequence, resulting in a sudden, strong airflow to help expel the offending material.

Industrialisation: The establishment of various industries has resulted in the further exploitation of water resources. Industries use water in large quantities. They also discharge industrial effluents and wastes in waster bodies and pollute them. This has degraded the quality of water and has resulted in water scarcity.

Processing Silk: Extracting silk from the cocoon is called processing silk.
The processing of silk from cocoons follows -
Step1: Separation of the silk fibre from the cocoon. For this, it is need to be exposed to warmth.
Piles of cocoons are kept under the sun, boiled or exposed to steam. The warmth causes the silk fibre to separate from the rest of the cocoon.
Step2: Reeling the silk, which is the process of delicately unwinding the fibre from the cocoon. Reeling is also done in special machines.
Step3: The silk thread is then bleached and dyed into many shades.
Step4: The silk fibre is then spun into silk thread, which is then woven into silk cloth by weavers.

Loamy Soil: Particles of loamy soil are smaller than sand and larger than clay. Loamy soil is the mixture of sandy soil, clayey soil and silt. Silt is the deposit in river beds.
Loamy soil has right water holding capacity and is well aerated. This is considered as the best soil for the growth of plants.

Clayey Sol: Particles of clayey soil are very small in size. This makes the particles of clayey soil packed tightly. There is very little space among the particles. Water does not drain quickly through clayey soil because of less space among particles. So, clayey soil is not well aerated and retains more water.
Clayey soil is used in making of toys. Clayey soil is good for growing paddy.

Sandy Soil: Particles of sandy soil are larger in size. Because of being larger in size, sand particles cannot fit close together and hence there is enough space among them. These spaces are filled with air. Water drains quickly through sandy soil. So, sandy soil is called well aerated, light and dry.
Sandy soil is not fit for vegetation as it does not retain water. However, millets can be grown on sandy soil.

Reflection: When light falls on a shiny surface, it bounces back. This phenomenon is called reflection. We are able to see images in mirrors or in water, because of reflection.
There are two laws of reflection.
- The incident ray, the reflected ray and the normal at the point of incidence lie in the same plane.
- Angle of incident and angle of reflection are equal.
Whenever an image is formed by a mirror or by any reflecting surface; the laws of reflection are obeyed.
