Autotrophic organisms (autotrophs) make their own food by converting solar energy into chemical energy through the process of photosynthesis, e.g. green plants. Autotrophs posses special pigment (chlorophyll) which help them to trap solar energy along with carbon dioxide and water to form glucose. On the other hand, heterotrophic organisms (heterotrophs) feed on other organisms for their energy needs, e.g. animals, man.

A patient should be given glucose drip when he is dehydrated. Glucose drip is also given when the patient is unable to take his food orally.
Dehydration occurs when water and electrolytes are lost during diarrhea. 'Drip of Glucose' can be referred either to Intravenous infusion of Dextrose (which is a biologically active form of Glucose) or to any Intravenous Fluid. As glucose is the necessary substance to provide energy, it should be given as drips until the person is able to recover from illness completely and eat his food without difficulty.

Glucose is a simple sugar. Carbohydrates, when consumed, have to be digested into glucose. As glucose can be easily absorbed in blood, it provides energy to the body. Hence, when glucose is directly taken, it does not have to be digested and thus acts as an instant source of energy.

Terrestrial organisms take up oxygen from the atmosphere whereas aquatic animals obtain oxygen from water. Air contains more O2 as compared to water. Since the content of O2 in air is high, the terrestrial animals do not have to breathe faster to get more oxygen. Therefore, unlike aquatic animals, terrestrial animals do not need adaptations for gaseous exchange.

When a substance is heated, its molecular movement increases. Due to this, the average distance between the molecules also increases, thereby increasing the volume of the substance, i.e., expanding the substance. However, the movement of molecules depends upon the state of matter. Solids have tightly packed molecules; hence, least movement of molecules takes place leading to minimal expansion. In liquids, the molecules are less tightly packed as compared to solids; hence, they expand more than solids. Molecules of gases have no bonding at all; therefore, gases expand the most among the three.
