The salts which contain water of crystallisation are called hydrated salts. Example - Copper sulphate crystals contain 5 molecules of water of crystallisation. The salts which have lost their water of crystallisation are called anhydrous salts. Example: On strong heating, copper sulphate crystals lose all the water of crystallisation and form anhydrous copper sulphate which is white in colour.

Red cabbage indicator is a purple coloured solution that is used to test whether substances are acid or base. Red cabbage that is often found in homes can be used to prepare a solution that acts as pH indicator. The cabbage basically contains a pigment molecule called flavin or anthocyanin that changes colour depending on the acidity of the solution.
Normally, the purple solution turns red in colour when it combines with something acidic and it turns green in colour when it combines with a base. If the substance does not cause the colour to change then it is mostly neutral.

Lichen is an association between an alga and a fungus, in which the two organisms jointly form a thallus that is distinct from either partner. The fungal partner is known as mycobiont and the algal partner as the phycobiont. Both the partners are benefitted by the association. Such an association is known as symbiosis or mutualism. Lichens can withstand extremes of climate and, thus, are found everywhere ranging from hot deserts to chilly mountains. They can colonize rocks, but are also found growing on fertile soils. The tree trunks on hills are the most common sites of lichen growth. In some places, the growth is so luxuriant that lichens are used as fodder for cattle. But, lichens are most sensitive to air pollution and probably that is the reason they are not found near cities.

The heart is roughly triangular in shape. It has four compartments called chambers inside it. The upper two chambers of the heart are called atria and the lower two chambers are called ventricles. The atria receive blood from the two main veins. The left atrium is connected to the left ventricle through a valve V1 and the right atrium is connected to the right ventricle through another valve V2. These valves prevent the backflow of blood into atria when the ventricles contract to pump blood out of the heart to the rest of the body because when the ventricles contract, the valves V1 and V2 close automatically so that the blood may not go back into the atria. The job of heart is to pump blood around our body. All the atria and ventricles of the heart contract and relax at appropriate times and make the heart behave like a pump. A sheath of tissue called pericardium protects the muscular heart.

The two upper chambers are called atria or auricles and two lower chambers are called ventricles.
There are valves between the auricles and the ventricle on each side.
The right auricle opens into the right ventricle and the left auricle into left ventricle.

A magnet is an object which attracts things made of iron, steel, nickel and cobalt. The simplest and the easiest way of making a magnet is by the ‘stroking method’. If we stroke an iron bar with one end of the bar magnet repeatedly in the same direction, the iron bar becomes a magnet.
Uses of magnets:
- Magnets are used to hold objects like stickers, pencil box lids, pins, etc.
- They are used to separate discarded iron and steel objects from other wastes.
- They are used for making compasses.

Cellular respiration is a set of metabolic reactions and processes that take place in the cells of organisms to convert biochemical energy from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and then release waste products. The reactions involved in respiration are catabolic reactions, which break large molecules into smaller ones, releasing energy in the process, as weak so-called "high-energy" bonds are replaced by stronger bonds in the products.
