{tex}{4^{\frac{3}{4}}} - \{ 2 + ({3^{\frac{1}{3}}} \times {1^{\frac{2}{3}}} \times {1^{\frac{1}{4}}} - 4)\} {/tex}
= {tex}{4^{\frac{3}{4}}} - \{ 2 + ({3^{\frac{1}{3}}} \times 1 \times 1 - 4)\} {/tex}[1n = 1]
= {tex}{4^{\frac{3}{4}}} - \{ 2 + ({3^{\frac{1}{3}}} - 4)\} {/tex}
= {tex}{4^{\frac{3}{4}}} - (2 + {3^{\frac{1}{3}}} - 4){/tex}

Let height of tree = x metre
Height of building = 9 metre
Height of building = 2/5 × height of tree
9 = 2/5 × (x)
9×5/2 = x
27.5m or 47/2 m= x
Therefore, height of tree= 47/2 m or 27.5 m

First, we move 1 step to the left of 0 reaching -1, then from -1 we move 2 steps to the left to reach -3 and finally from -3 we move 3 steps to the left. We reach the point -6.
Thus, (-1) + (-2) + (-3) = -6.

The long division method is used when you are dividing a large number (usually three digits or more) by a two-digit (or more) number. It is set out in a similar way to short division (the 'bus stop' method).
