Selling Price = ₹540
Profit = 20 %
Cost Price = Selling Price × 100/100 + Profit %
= 540 × 100/100 + 20
= 54000/120

Let a number be ' x '
Twice the number = 2x
According to the problem given,
Twice the number when decreased by 7 gives 45
=> 2x - 7 = 45
/* Add 7 both sides of the equation,we get
=> 2x = 45 + 7
=> 2x = 52
Divide both sides by 2, we get
=> x = 26
Therefore,
Required number = x = 26

When x is multiplied by 3 = 3x exceed by 40
{tex} = > 3x = 40 + x{/tex}
{tex} = > 3x - x = 40{/tex}
{tex} = > 2x = 40{/tex}
