Ans: 1. Although no data is given in the story but it says the number of dead animals was far less compared to human casualties.

Harris went into the maze to show a friend the way. As he had studied the map of the maze, he thought it was easy to get out of it. Both of them went in. In the maze, they met some people who were there for three quarters o f an hour and were unable to find the way out. Harris was confident of knowing t he way and therefore asked them to follow him. Everyone started following him. Many more people joined him who had lost their way. There were twenty people now. Harri s continued to turn to the right. However, soon people realised that instead of going out, they kept going around the same place again and again. All of them were very a ngry with Harris as every time they kept coming back to the centre. Later on, they were helped by the old keeper to find their way

According to Soapy, going to jail is a more dignified way to get free room and board for the winter. So, Soapy's real goal isn't jail so much as a way to get food and shelter in the least humiliating way with the least sacrifice of his privacy.
Soapy is a man who neither has a job nor has a home. He is restless because he need to go to prison for three months to get survived in the winter season.

It is a short story written by O.Henry. This story narrates about a man named ‘Soapy’, who is homeless and jobless as well. To survive the winter season, he wished to go to prison for three months.
He made several attempts in getting cop's attention by doing some notorious activities.
