On meeting a mynah, Golu asks what does a crocodile eats for dinner. Most noteworthy, Golu had no experience of a crocodile. He had never before seen a crocodile and had no idea about its diet. Consequently, Golu began to grow more and more curious regarding the crocodile and its eating habit. In order to search for the answer, Golu decided to visit the great Limpopo river due to the advice given by the mynah.

Bishop Always Ready to Help Others
The Bishop is always ready to help the needy pa-sons of his parish. He goes to attend to Marie’s mother who is feeling poorly. He is out in cold without supper. He sells his salt cellars to help Mere Gringoire to pay her rents. His sister Persome feels that her brother is the dupe of every idle vagabond and old lying woman. He has sold his land, his furniture and spent all his savings to help others. Persome feels that her brother’s generosity and innocence is being misused by the people of his parish. But the Bishop thinks that this world is full of suffering and he can do very little to help the sufferers.
Convict Enters Stealthily with a Knife
The convict enters with a long knife and seizes the Bishop from behind. He warns the Bishop not to play any trick with him. He is too old a bird to be caught with chaff. Persome is frightened when she sees a knife in his hand. The convict is staring at them like a wild beast. The Bishop asks Persome to give company to the guest at supper. The convict eats greedily and throws a bone on the floor. Persome leaves the Bishop with the convict and goes to her room. Then the convict narrates his story.
Convict Narrates His Tragic Story
Once the convict had a little hut and a wife. Then came the bad year. He was out of job and had no money. His wife Jeanette fell ill. She was dying. He stole to buy her food. He was arrested. He pleaded to them why he stole but they laughed at him. He was sentenced to ten years in the prison hulks. The night he was sentenced, he was told that Jeanette was dead.
Life in ‘Hell’
He was no more a man now. He became a wild beast. The jail employees chained him like a wild beast. They lashed him like a hound. He was fed on filth and covered with vermin. They took away his soul and gave a devil in its place. But one day they were careless and he escaped.
Convict Steals Bishop’s Silver Candlesticks
The convict comes to know that he is with a Bishop. He warns him not to try to convert him. He doesn’t want any damn religion and the church. The Bishop asks him to go to bed. When left alone, the convict sees the silver candlesticks. He knows that they were given to the Bishop by his mother. His heart goes soft. But he soon hardens himself, steals the candlesticks and goes out into the darkness.
Convict is Caught and Brought Back to Bishop
When Persome and the Bishop get up next morning, they find the candlesticks and the convict missing. Soon they hear a knocking. A sergeant enters with three soldiers and the convict in chains. The sergeant tells that they found him (convict) walking on the road with the candlesticks. They arrested him on suspicion. They identified the candlesticks of the Bishop and so they brought them there to him. The Bishop saves the convict by declaring that those candlesticks were given to him as a gift. The convict is freed again.
Convict is Transformed
The Bishop saves the convict from going to “hell” again. This leaves a deep impression on the convict. He is a transformed man now. He is no more a wild beast. He sobs and repents. The Bishop gives him the candlesticks and the convict takes them in absolute amazement. The Bishop shows him a very lonely path through the woods at the back of his cottage leading to Paris. The soldiers don’t like lonely paths at night. The Bishop blesses the convict and tells him that “this poor body is the Temple of the Living God”.

In the poem 'The Squirrel' the poet Mildred Bowers Armstrong describes a squirrel that he observes in his garden. The poet describes how the squirrel, covered in gray fur, sits in an upright position on a tree branch eating a nut. His tail looks like a question mark because of its bent shape. The happy and lively squirrel loves to play with the poet and her friends. Whenever they ran around his tree, he would run to the other side of the tree. The poet tells us about the nature of the squirrel that it is innocently naughty and likes to tease anyone who comes near him.

Mr Willy Wonka travelled across the globe in his Great Glass Elevator to collect items for Vita-Wonk. He collected samples from some of the oldest living creatures in the world. He mixed these items, boiled and bubbled them several times in his inventing room and then invented a one tiny cupful of an oily black liquid. He tested this on a 20 years old Oompa-Loompa volunteer and within minutes it turned into a 75 years old creature. This was how Vita-Wonk was discovered.

It was a time when the elephant had no trunk. Golu was a baby elephant. He had only a bulgy nose. He ‘could only move it from side to side. But he couldn’t pick up things with it.
He was full of questions. He asked his aunt, the ostrich why she didn’t ever fly like other birds. He asked his tall uncle, the giraffe why his skin has spots. He asked the hippopotamus why his eyes were always red. Finally, he asked the monkey why melons tasted like melons.
One day Golu asked the mynah bird what the crocodiles always had for dinner. The bird directed him to the Limpopo river to find out. Taking a lot of sugarcanes, ba¬nanas and melons, he went to the great river. He met a python, and put his question and got no reply.
Golu moved on the river bank when he saw a log of wood. It was really the cunning crocodile. Golu put his question to him. He told that he would give the reply in his ear. It caught Golu by the nose, and told that today he would eat the elephant. It started dragging him hard into the stream.
Golu cried for help. The python came and coiled fast round Golu’s stomach. Both pulled very hard. At each pull Golu’s nose grew longer and longer. He was free at last.
In two days his nose grew cool but it did not shrink. Instead, it turned into a trunk. However, it proved to be very advantageous. Golu first hit a stinging fly dead with his trunk. Then he plucked the grass and put it into his mouth. The trunk enabled him to dig up some mud and throw it on his head. He thanked the python for its help.

In Answer to the first Question, the hermit said that there is only one time that is important and that time is ‘Now’. It is the only time when one has any power to act. The hermit Answered the second Question by saying that the most necessary person is the person you are with at a particular moment. This is because no one knows what will happen in the future and whether we will meet anyone else. The hermit’s response to the third Question was that the most important thing is to do good for the person one is with. This is because all are sent into this world for that purpose alone.

Elocution is the study of formal speaking in pronunciation, grammar, style, and tone as well as the idea and practice of effective speech and its forms. It stems from the idea that while communication is symbolic, sounds are final and compelling.
