- Draw a line segment {tex}\overline{X Y}{/tex} of length 10.3cm.
- With X as centre, using compasses, draw an arc. The radius of this arc should be more than half of the length of {tex}\overline{X Y}{/tex}.
- With the same radius and with Y as centre, draw another arc using compasses. Let it cut the previous arc at A and B.
- Join AB. Then {tex}\overline{A B}{/tex} is the perpendicular bisector of the line segment {tex}\overline{X Y}{/tex}.
- On examination, we find that PX = PY.
- We can say that the lengths of MX is half of the length of XY.
