• An object which gives out its own light is called a luminous object.
• When an object is placed in front of a source of light, it produces a shade behind it, called shadow.
• Those materials which allow electric current to pass through them are called conductors.
• Those materials which do not allow electric current to pass through them are called insulators.
• The changing of water into water vapour is called evaporation.
• The loss of water from plants as water vapour through the pores of their leaves is called transpiration.
• The changing of water vapour into liquid water on cooling is called condensation.

The manuscript is a handwritten or a manually typewritten document, whereas inscription is the writings on relatively hard surfaces such as stone or metal. Manuscripts can be defined as a handwritten record of information. These are useful sources of information about the past which could be in the form of a letter, on leaves and barks of trees or scrolls. Palm leaf manuscripts made of dried palm leaves were commonly used in India.

Water is being continuously used and water conservation is the major concern in the present scenario. The water cycle has helped in maintaining water on the surface of the earth for millions of years. The water circulated in water cycle takes three different forms – solid, liquid and gaseous. The solid form of water – ice, is found at the poles of the earth, the snow covered mountains and the glaciers. The liquid form is present in the rivers, lakes, seas, and oceans. The gaseous form of water, water vapor is present all around us.

South Africa since 1994 transitioned from the system of apartheid to one of majority rule. The election of 1994 resulted in a change in government with the African National Congress (ANC) coming to power. A non-racial constitution was eventually agreed upon and adopted in 1993. The new Constitution came into effect on 27 April 1994, the day the nation cast its vote in the first democratic election in the country. The ANC was voted into power and Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as the President of South Africa on 10 May.

A compass can be used to find East-West direction at any place.
Always the needle of the compass points towards North-South direction. So if North-South direction is known then East-West direction can also be known.

The biosphere is as important as life itself because it is all of life. Without the biosphere, the Earth would be a lifeless planet such as Mars or Venus. Humans can have a huge impact on the biosphere, in both good and bad ways. The growth of the human population on Earth means there is less room for other species. We should restore damaged ecosystems by planting trees on land where forests have been cut down. Encourage people to live in a way that doesn't hurt the environment. Establish parks to protect rainforests and wildlife.

If any domain is missing from the earth then plants and land animals would die. Fish would die. Most aquatic organisms would die. However, some bacteria could survive, so losing the atmosphere wouldn't kill all life on Earth.

Standard time -
1. The time of the standard meridian of a country.
2. Every country has its own particular standard time, and it remains the same for the whole country.
3. Places on the same longitude, can often have varying standard time.
Local time -
1. Local time refers to time at a particular place, that is the time when the mid day sun is directly over head.
2. Different places in the same country have their own local times.
3. Places on the longitude always have the same local time.
