Manuscript and Inscription are the sources of historical knowledge. The manuscript is a handwritten or a manually typewritten document, whereas inscription is the writings on relatively hard surfaces such as stone or metal. Manuscripts can be defined as a handwritten record of information. These are useful sources of information about the past which could be in the form of a letter, on leaves and barks of trees or scrolls. Palm leaf manuscripts made of dried palm leaves were commonly used in India.
