The Solar System is the Sun and all the objects that orbit around it. The Sun is orbited by planets, asteroids, comets and other things. It contains 99.9% of the Solar System's mass. This means that it has strong gravity. The other objects are pulled into orbit around the Sun.There are 8 planets in our solar system, they are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Planets in our solar system can be divided into two main groups, Terrestrial Planets and Gas Giants. Planets that orbit other stars are referred to as Exoplanets.

A (geographic) meridian (or line of longitude) is the half of an imaginary great circle on the Earth's surface, terminated by the North Pole and the South Pole, connecting points of equal longitude, as measured in angular degrees east or west of the Prime Meridian. The parallel of latitude is an imaginary line around the Earth that is parallel to the equator. An example of a parallel of latitude is the Arctic Circle that runs east - west around the Earth at a latitude of 66° 33' 44".

Climate means the usual condition of the temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind, rainfall, and other meteorological elements in an area of the Earth's surface for a long time. In simple terms climate is the average condition for about thirty years. Climate is the average of that weather. For example, you can expect snow in the Northeast in January or for it to be hot and humid in the Southeast in July. This is climate. The climate record also includes extreme values such as record high temperatures or record amounts of rainfall.

Stars

Planets

Stars are incredibly hot having high temperatures to them.

Planets on the other hand have relatively low temperatures.

They are objects that produce their own light and do not rely on an external source for the production of light

Planets are incapable of producing their own light.

Stars have a unique effect of twinkling in the sky.

Planets do not exhibit the twinkling effect unlike stars

The stars do not change their position at all.

Planets in orbits on their own axis change their positions constantly.

Stars have incredibly high temperatures to them.

Planets on the other hand are relatively colder with lower temperatures.

A dam is a barrier across flowing water which hamper, directs or reduces the flow of water.
Advantages of dams are:

  • Dams and reservoirs can be effectively used to control floods by regulating river water flows downstream the dam.
  • Electricity produced by utilising the falling water of a dam is known as hydro electricity. Dam thus helps in providing cheap and clean energy. This helps in conserving resources like coal.
  • Dams and reservoirs are constructed to store surplus waters during wet periods, which can be used for irrigating arid lands. One of the major benefits of dams and reservoirs is that water flows can be regulated as per agricultural requirements of the various regions over the year.

Palm leaf or the bark of the birch tree was used in the ancient times to write manuscripts. Manuscripts were produced on vellum and another parchment, on papyrus, and on paper. In India, the palm leaf manuscript, with a distinctive long rectangular shape, was used from ancient times until the 19th century. The definition of a manuscript is a book that is written for submission to a publisher, or a book, play or other creative work that is written by hand instead of typed. The author's copy of a book that the author has just turned in to the publisher is an example of a manuscript.

Rotation is the process or act of turning or circling around something. An example of rotation is the earth's orbit around the sun. An example of rotation is a group of people holding hands in a circle and walking in the same direction. The degree of rotation is the number of degrees required to rotate the shape or object so that it appears as it did before the rotation. A full rotation requires 360 degrees. To find the degree of rotation, you would divide 360 degrees by the order.

"The Earth keeps spinning because it was born spinning," Luhman said. Different planets have different rates of rotation. Mercury, closest to the sun, is slowed by the sun's gravity, Luhman noted, making but a single rotation in the time it takes the Earth to rotate 58 times. When our solar system formed out of a gas cloud, called a nebula, there was lots of dust and gas coming together due to the force of gravity. The dust and gas was already moving around in a circle. As it all clumped together to form the Sun and planets, these new objects started to spin – and then spin faster.
