  4. People show an active interest in the functioning of the government by expressing a public opinion through the mass media. Newspapers, magazines, TV also play a role in discussing government issues and responsibilities.

Universal Adult Franchise means all citizens who are 18 years and above irrespective of their caste or education, religion, colour, race and economic conditions are free to vote. However, there are exceptions like lunatics, minors, aliens etc. who are not allowed to vote. It is an essential aspect of all democracies and is based on the concept of equality.
