Chandragupta I was succeeded by his son Samudragupta. Samudragupta ruled for about 50 years from 330 A.D. to 380 A.D. Samudragupta was great military commander. He defeated large number of kings. Samudragupta was a versatile poet and musician.

The four major domains of the earth are—Lithosphere, Atmosphere, Hydrosphere and Biosphere.
- The lithosphere is a domain concerning land.
- Hydrosphere is a domain that contains water or water bodies.
- The Atmosphere is a domain that consists of layers which are the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere as well as the exosphere.
- The biosphere is the point where all the three domains, viz. land, water and air meet as well as interact with each other. The biosphere is a zone of contact between air, water as well as land.

Thanjavur was a pilgimage center as it was a temple town. Here craftsmen produced excellent metal works. They made exquisite bronze idols, ornaments, metal lamps, bells etc. Calcutta on the other hand, was a famous textile center which was famous for spinning and weaving of cloth.

“If agricultural labour is increasing in the country and the number of cultivators is decreasing it can be because of two reasons. One is that farmers are losing their land and are being forced to work as labourers in the fields of others. The Agriculture labour Enquiry Committee defines agriculture labourers as those who derive their main source of income by working on farms of others for a wage. They are one of the two types of farmworkers, other being the cultivators.
