  • Ajatshatru was a king of the Haryanka dynasty of Magadha in East India. He is known for organising the first Buddhist council soon after Buddha's death.  
  • Ajatshatru is known for his efforts to lay down the foundation of a strong empire of Magadha.  
  • He conquered kingdoms of central, north, extending to west a few, a total of 36 empires.  
  • On the banks of Ganga, he constructed forts to strengthen the security of his kingdom Magadha.
