- Ajatshatru is known for his efforts to lay down the foundation of a strong empire of Magadha.
- He conquered kingdoms of central, north, extending to west a few, a total of 36 empires.
- On the banks of Ganga, he constructed forts to strengthen the security of his kingdom Magadha.
