Bimbisara (558-491 B.C.), the greatest patron of Goutam Budhha, was one of the early kings of the ancient indian kingdom of Magadha.
He extended his kingdom upto Anga in the east and this expansion is considered to have laid the foundation for the vast expansion of the Maurya Empire in future.
This great king was unfortunately imprisoned by his own son Ajatashatru in his intense desire to become the monarch.
He was instigated by Devdatta, who hated the king's patronage to the Budhha.
Ajatashtru starved his father to death resulting in the end of an able and kind-hearted king's reign.

When Ashoka, the son of the Mauryan emperor Bindusara and the grandson of Chandragupta Maurya, the first Mauryan Emperor, ascended the throne of Magadha in 273 BC, he also wanted to follow the footsteps of his father and grandfather and set out to expand his empire to become a great conqueror. Kalinga was a part of Magadha Empire during the time of the Nandas. When the Nandas were defeated by Chandragupta Maurya, Kalinga was an independent state. While Chandragupta Maurya and Bindusara initially wanted to re-conquer it, they could not succeed. It was Ashoka who came forward to conquer it again. Also, historians reveal that Kalinga had already expanded its military power and had huge material prosperity due to its trade relations with Java, Malay, and Ceylon, right from the time of Chandragupta to that of Ashoka, and Ashoka could not neglect the importance of Kalinga for the Mauryan Empire. I think it was mainly the vast military strength, wealth and power of Kalinga that caused jealousy for the Magadh Empire and so, Ashoka wanted to re-establish the Magadh power in this state. During Ashoka's reign, he sent a message to the ruler of Kalinga to surrender his empire to the Mauryas. However, Kalingaraj or the ruler of Kalinga refused to submit to the Mauryan Empire. Thus, followed a huge war between the two rulers in 261 B.C. At least this is the theory most believe.

The Rigveda mentions Indus and its tributaries. River Saraswati has also been mentioned in the Rigveda. The Ganges and the Yamuna are mentioned only once in the Rigveda. Based on this information, we can make some conclusions. Most of the people lived near the Indus and its tributaries; when the Rigveda was composed. But people were also aware about the Ganges and the Yamuna.

It is a fact that India's diversity has always been recognised as a source of its strength. It became clear when the country was India's diversity has always been recognised as a source of its strength. It became clear when the country was struggling against the British rule. People from different cultural, religious and regional backgrounds came forward together to oppose the British government in India. They worked together to decide joint actions, they went to jail together and they found different ways to oppose the British. The British thought that they could divide Indians because they were so different and then continue to rule them. But it was their illusion. Although Indians were so different, they were united from within at the question of the British government in India. They were 'one' in their battle against the British. They cherished the same goal to banish the British from India as soon as possible.

Crust: The crust is the thin outer later of the Earth where we live.   The crust varies from around 5km thick (in the ocean floor) to around 70km thick (on land where we live called the continental crust). The continental crust is made up of rocks that consist primarily of silica and alumina called the "sial".

Mantle: The next layer of the Earth is called the mantle. The mantle is much thicker than the crust at almost 3000km deep. It's made up of slightly different silicate rocks with more magnesium and iron.
Outer Core: The Earth's outer core is made up of iron and nickel and is very hot (4400 to 5000+ degrees C). The outer core is very important to earth as it creates something called a magnetic field. The magnetic field the outer core creates goes way out in to space and makes a protective barrier around the earth that shields us from the sun's damaging solar wind.

Inner Core: The Earth's inner core is made up of iron and nickel, just like the outer core, however, the inner core is different. The inner core is so deep within the earth that it's under immense pressure. So much pressure that, even though it is so hot, it is solid. The inner core is the hottest part of the Earth, and, at over 5000 degrees C, is about as hot as the surface of the sun.
