1) Turn off the tap immediately after use. Get the leaking taps repaired immediately.
2) Take bath by filling water in a bucket and not directly under the flowing tap.
3) Wash the utensils by filling water in basin and not under the running tap.
4) Use the water from washing rice, vegetables or fruits for watering the plants at home.
5) Do not use a full flush from the cistern in the toilet when a half flush is sufficient.

Yes air occupies a space.
Take an empty glass bottle. Now, dip the open mouth of the bottle into a bucket filled with water. You will notice that water does not enter the bottle when it is in an inverted position, as there is no space for air to escape. This activity shows that air occupies space.

Since the use of plastic articles is not good for the environment, we should take some steps to save the environment. Some of them are as follows:
- We should try to reduce the use of plastics like we should use bags made of cotton cloth or jute for shopping instead of using polythene bags.
- We should not throw polythene bags, wrappers of chips, biscuits, etc. in water bodies, roads, in parks or picnic places. They should be put in dustbins.
- We should reuse the plastic containers which come with jams, pickles, oil and other packed foods for storing salt, sugar, tea-leaves, etc.

Some precautions must be taken while using a metre scale to measure the length of an object : -
1. Our eye should be vertically abvove the point, where the measurement is to be taken.
2. For proper measurement, Keep the ruler exactly along the length , for the measurement.

Permanent Magnets: As the name suggests these are the type of magnets that can retain their magnetism for a considerate amount of time. They are usually made of hard materials which are strongly magnetized. A perfect example of permanent magnet is the Bar Magnet (a magnet that is widely used to explain/understand the behaviour of magnets). In fact, Permanent magnets are most of the times referred to as Bar Magnets also.

The process of converting plant and animal waste materials into manure by rotting is called composting. All the biodegradable domestic wastes are converted into manure and are used as manure because it contains nutrients required for the growth of plants. Composting can be done by collecting all bidegradable wastes in a pit for few days or a month and allowing the materials to rotten properly and form manure or compost.
