When the jute plant is in the flowering stage, it is harvested. After harvesting, it is kept submerged in water for a few days. During this period, the stem of the plant rots and the fibres (present in the stem) remain. The process by which fibres are obtained from the stem of the plant is known as retting.

Winnowing is the process of separation of the heavier components from the lighter components of a mixture by wind or by blowing air. It is generally used by farmers to separate the lighter impurities such as husk particles from the heavier grains.
For example: toor dal and husk particles. This process is completely done by the wind. The heavier particles stay down whereas the husk particles jump away. This process is mostly seen in villages and few towns.

In summer we prefer light – colored clothes and in winter we usually wear dark- colored clothes. If we take two tins filled with water kept in a sun and one tin is painted black from outside and one tin painted white from outside. We find that the water filled in a black colored tin is warmer than the white tin as black object absorbs more heat radiations than the white objects.
Woollen clothes keep us warm in winter: Wool is a poor conductor of heat and the air is trapped in between the wool fibres. This air prevents the flow of heat from our body to the cold surroundings. So we feel warm in woolen clothes.

Wool is a natural fibre and comparatively weaker because we sit on it.So the fabric needed has to be a stronger one,so a synthetic fibre is chosen for weaving a sofa, like nylon, polyester.

Malnutrition is an imbalance between the nutrients the body needs and the nutrients it gets. Thus, malnutrition also includes overnutrition (consumption of too many calories or too much of any specific nutrient—protein, fat, vitamin, mineral, or other dietary supplement), as well as undernutrition. However, undernutrition is usually thought of as a deficiency primarily of calories (that is, overall food consumption) or of protein. Deficiencies of vitamins and deficiencies of minerals are usually considered separate disorders. However, when calories are deficient, vitamins and minerals are likely to be also. Undernutrition, which is often used interchangeably with malnutrition, is actually a type of malnutrition.
