Four ways in which we can conserve water are
- By building small check dams and tanks which are not only environment-friendly but also recharge groundwater.
- By rainwater harvesting and collecting rooftop water.
- To keep a check on industrial effluents which pollute rivers.
- To take every possible step at the personal level to save water (e.g. close the tap while brushing teeth, wash vegetables in a pan rather than directly under tap water etc.).

Common salt is obtained from sea-water by the process of evaporation. Sea water is trapped in large, shallow pools and allowed to stand there. The sun's heat evaporates the water slowly and common salt is left behind. This impure common salt obtained has impurities and is hence purified to obtain pure common salt by recrystallization.

When a chemical change takes place, new substances are formed in a chemical reaction. These new products may have very different properties from the substances that were there at the start of the reaction.
Examples of chemical change: the decomposition (breaking down) of hydrogen peroxide and the synthesis (forming) of water.

There are two types of fiber:
- Soluble, found in fruits and vegetables, beans and oats. These dissolve in water and help keep total cholesterol under control.
- Insoluble, found in whole grain foods such as wheat bran. These help us feel fuller and may help reduce risk of colon cancer.

The atmospheric pressure goes on decreasing as we go up above the sea-level. Therefore, the amount of oxygen also decreases at higher altitude. Due to this reason, mountaineers carry oxygen cylinders with them, while climbing high mountains.
