The few common characteristics shared by all living things.
Composed of cells- All living organisms are composed of single to billions of cells.
Need Food- Food is essential for both plants and animals, as it gives energy required for the growth and the development. Plants produce their own food through the process of photosynthesis and animals depends on plants for food.
Reproduction – All living organisms reproduce to produce their young ones. The mode of reproduction varies. Birds lay eggs, some animals give birth to their young ones and plants reproduce through seeds.
Growth and development– It is the fundamental process seen in all living organism. Plants grow into a tree, baby grows into an adult, a calf grows into a cow, etc.
Respiration – It is the process of breathing in and breathing out the air. All living organism breath and it is necessary as it provides energy from the food we eat.

An elastic measuring tape is stretchable. It cannot be used to measure distances because the length of the tape may change on stretching. As a result, the measured length would not be correct.
If you measure the length of an object twice using an elastic tape, then you may get different values of the same length each time. This is because elastic tapes are stretchable.

Adaptations in lions to survive in the grasslands:
- The skin colour of the lion camouflages with the yellow colour of the grass. This helps them to catch their prey.
- They have a strong sense of smell which helps them to sense their prey.
- They have sharp eyesight.
- They have strong leg muscles which help them to run very fast to catch their prey.

- The streamlined shape of sea animals is an adaptation for swimming in water.
- Most of the sea-animals have gills which enable them to use oxygen dissolved in water for breathing.So, the presence of gills in sea-animals is an adaptation for breathing inside the water.

Acclimatization is the process in which an individual organism adjusts to a gradual change in its environment (such as a change in temperature, humidity, photoperiod, or pH), allowing it to maintain performance across a range of environmental conditions.The aquatic animals live and breathe in water and face very specific situations, compared to terrestrial species. Different environmental factors such as salinity, light, very variable oxygen content or presence of ammonia involve particular capabilities of adaptation.Proper acclimation will take care of slowly changing the animal’s body temperature back to a normal temperature without stress.
