कंप्यूटर एक Electronic Machine है। जो प्रोग्राम की मदद से Meaningless Data को Meaningful Information में बदलने के का कार्य करती है। बिना प्रोग्राम के कंप्यूटर कोई भी कार्य पूर्ण नहीं करता, इसलिए इसे Programmable Machine भी कहा जाता है। भले ही सुनने में Computer यह शब्द हमें अपनापन महसूस करता हो लेकिन यह शब्द अंग्रेजी भाषा का है। Computer को हिंदी में संगणक कहा जाता है।
