At birth the human skeleton is made up of around 300 bones. By adulthood, some bones have fused together to end up with 206 bones. Over half of these bones are in the hands, which have 54 bones, and the feet, which have 52 bones. The smallest bones are in the ear. The spine is made up of 33 bones.
