Feathers on a bird's wings provide a lightweight but solid surface to push against the air. As the wing flaps downward, the feathers mesh together, then part to allow air through as it sweeps upward again. As well as allowing it to fly, a bird's feathers keep it warm and dry. Feathers perform a number of functions for a bird: 1) They provide insulation, body temperature of most birds is maintained at around 40 C; 2) Feathers allow for flight; 3) Feathers control what a bird looks like by supplying the bird with colors.

In vascular plants, the roots are the organs of a plant that typically lie below the surface of the soil. Roots can also be aerial or aerating, that is, growing up above the ground or especially above water. Roots act like straws absorbing water and minerals from the soil. Tiny root hairs stick out of the root, helping in the absorption. Roots help to anchor the plant in the soil so it does not fall over. Roots also store extra food for future use.

The simple description of photosynthesis is that plants are able to absorb light energy from the sun, and use this energy to combine carbon dioxide and water in such a way as to form glucose and oxygen. ... Thus, plants do not need to eat because they make their own food source. Chlorophyll is very important. Without chlorophyll plants cannot use the sunlight energy to make food.

Planting more trees bring rain because plants transpire. Transpiration is a process by which aerial parts of the plants lose water as water vapour during photosynthesis. this water is added to the normal moisture of the air thus making the air saturated faster and brings rain. Growing trees take water from the soil and release it into the atmosphere. Tree leaves also act as interceptors, catching falling rain, which then evaporates causing rain precipitation elsewhere — a process known as evapo-transpiration. This phenomenon is caused by trees releasing water vapour through pores in their leaves called stomata. We also know that many big forests, and rainforests in particular, tend to get more rain than surrounding areas
