The Earth's surface is permeable, which means that it takes in water in like a sponge. Water gets into an aquifer from the land surface. Typically, precipitation falling onto the Earth's surface soaks into the ground and flows down to the water table.
Sources of underground water:
- Rivers:
- Streams: Rainwater infiltrates into the soil and subsequently joins the groundwater storage. ...
- Lakes: Rainwater in excess of all sorts of losses runs off the surface of the earth. ...

There are 4 main stages of water cycle as:
Evaporation: Heat from the sun causes water on Earth (in oceans, rivers, ponds, lakes etc) and from plants, transipation to evaporate and rise into the sky in the form of water vapour.
Condensation: Water vapours condenses on dust particles to form tiny droplets of water. These droplets come together to form a cloud. This is called condensation.
Precipitation: Waterfalls from sky in the form of rain, snow, hail, etc This process is called precipitation.
Collection: Water flows to the rivers which then flows into oceans. Water evaporates into the sky again and this cycle continues again.

A family consisting of a pair of adults and their children is called small family or nuclear family. A family is said to have small size if it comprises father, mother and few (usually one to four) children. A large family size is made of father, mother and more than four children. Children in small families, especially first and only children, tend to have higher school and personal achievement levels than do children of larger families. The financial costs of maintaining a household are lower. It is easier for both parents to combine careers with family life.
