The force exerted by the Earth's atmosphere per unit are of the Earth's surface is called atmospheric pressure. Example: Bleeding of nose: Our blood contains dissolved oxygen at a pressure slightly more than the atmospheric pressure. When we go to higher altitudes the atmospheric pressure decreases, as a result the blood is pushed out of the nose and it starts bleeding.
