Permanent land settlement was introduced by lord Cornwall is because they wanted to generate more revenue to hold there expenses britisher thought by introducing this type of policy zamindar will have a land permanently through which he will earn money and will give a fix amount of money every year asked by Britishers and the remaining money he will give to artisans working in his field given by britisher and remaining he will take but the things went opposite as zamindars were so powerful than common artisans in case of wealth and political power so the zamindars had forced the labors to work without money and earn him a high revenue because of which the condition of artisans became worst and worst because of which a famine came into Bengal in which approx 10 million people died and hence britisher had to introduce a newer and better policy which was ryotwari
