Clay is a bad conductor of heat and electricity. It is a ceramic material, with good mechanical and chemical bonds throughout the cross-section that transfer heat through conduction to the interior. Therefore, the Electric heaters used for cooking have the filament or the heating coil on a plate made up of clay
