The mark at the broken end is 1.6 cm.

So, we will use the scale from the full mark e.g 2 cm.

We now measure the length of the object by keeping the 2 cm at its left end.

The 2 cm value is then subtracted from the scale reading at the right side end of the object to obtain the correct length of the object.
