The classification means the process by which anything is grouped into convenient categories based on some easily observable characters.

Needs of classification:

It is impossible to study on living organisms so it is necessary to devise some means to make this possible this process is called classification.
The living organisms show a great diversity in structure habits habitats and modes of life. To understand the interrelationships among the diversify and animal groups a systematic classification is necessary.
living organisms are broadly classified into microorganism plants and animals Biology is the science dealing with the study of living organisms.
