Hydel power:

  • It is generated by fast flowing water.
  • It uses renewable resources.
  • Initially its cost was high but later it became cheaper.
  • It does not cause any pollution.
    Example: Bhakra Nangal project.

Thermal power:

  • It is generated by using coal, petroleum and natural gas.
  • It uses all non-renewable resources.
  • Its cost is very high and its production is expensive.
  • It does cause pollution.
    Example: Badarpur thermal plant of Delhi.
