Metals Non metals Metals react with oxygen and form oxides. These oxides are alkaline in nature. Non metals react with oxygen to form oxides which are alkaline in nature. Metals react with water to form oxides and hydroxides. They do not react with water. Metals react with acid to produce hydrogen gas. Non metals do not react with acid. More reactive metals can displace less reactive metals from their salt solutions. They cannot displace less reactive metals from their salt solution. Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity. Non metals are poor conductors of heat and electricity. Like Graphite. Metals have high density. Non metals have low density.
