A hymn is a type of song, usually religious, specifically written for the purpose of adoration or prayer, and typically addressed to a deity or deities, or to a prominent figure or personification. The word hymn derives from Greek ὕμνος (hymnos), which means "a song of praise". A writer of hymns is known as a hymnist. A hymn is considered a traditional hymn; a song is considered a praise song also called a worship song. 2. Hymns are always sung to the same tune or rhythm like 8.8. Each praise song has its own music and separate lyrics like any other song.
